I am from the waves
I am from the waves, from the forest, open skies and mountain peaks; I am from the sidewalks, subways, soirées and coffee shops. Midwest, West Coast, East Coast, Europe. I was raised between Portland, Oregon and Kansas City and studied in Boston and Salzburg. Born in the Colorado mountains, I have made the mountains of Austria my home. “A person who does not act and think creatively ceases to be an image of God” (unknown)—I create because I am from the Creator.
The characters I paint
live and love unapologetically, passionately, and with the strength of vulnerability.
They challenge and embolden us
to live freely and to
shine.
An art world maverick, Adrienne Egger has a boundary-pushing attitude. Fusing her resilient energy with adventurous light-heartedness, she opens doors and breaks down barriers with charisma, confidence and warmth.
Best known for her crowd-stopping figurative paintings, Adrienne’s prize-winning style – like many aspects of her life – defies easy categorization. Harnessing aspects of narrative, impressionism and expressionism, her innately curious nature seeks new means and experiments with a variety of materials in order to capture feelings, culture and humanity. For there, between her easy smile and light touch, lies the true gift of the artist.
Through a life spanning nearly 5 decades spent equally on two continents, she has come to understand that we are all the same, wanting to be understood. This is reflected in the international scope of her collector base, private & corporate, found everywhere from Hong Kong, San Francisco, Aspen, New York, London, Ibiza, Paris, Hamburg, Vienna, and München, to a charity auction at a polo tournament in St Moritz, the living room of Austrian rock’n’roller Andreas Gabalier, or even your neighbor down the street.
The imagination knows no borders,
nor does the heart.
Or how else should a business/psychology student from the Rocky Mountains end up an award-winning artist in the Alps?

From award-winning luxury lifestyle magazines, respected curatorial publications, to multiple-page spreads in the local bank magazine, Adrienne’s thoughts and approachable style of reflection are popularly well-documented. She illuminates that what becomes seen in the light of reflection is not always beautiful. Witnessing the crushing frustrations of her artistic single mother as an impoverished 8-year-old girl as she did is neither beautiful nor inspiring.
This is the essence of Adrienne’s work: she holds out her hand to us and challenges us to take our vulnerabilities, our messes as well as our victories, and turn them into something we can love. With deep empathy beyond words and conventions, her exquisite talent and honest elegance transform intangible feelings into visual storyscapes, a simple painting exercise into a personal revelation, or an event into a living fantasy.
Be it through her artwork, workshops, design, handbag collection or events, Adrienne elevates everyone her work touches, revealing the extraordinary in ourselves in order to comfort us, lift us up, and laugh with us.
